Technically, it’s Thursday. But we couldn’t wait until next week to show you this fabulous beach wedding we did in April!

Yes, Southern Event Planners does travel! We love destination weddings, and we’ve done some in Miami, Costa Rica, and now we’ve added a quiet little town called Inlet Beach to our list.

Bill and Tressa wanted a simple, clean, beach wedding. They wanted to share their moment with 80 of their closest friends and family while having good food, good music, beautiful scenery, and an all around good time! Anna’s Veranda was the perfect venue – a fun, open, elegant beach house.

We did a lot of research for their wedding (asking for referrals is a must when you’re not a local planner!), and all of the hard work paid off! We worked with some amazing, professional vendors who knew how to have fun. Kate Crafton Photography captured some wonderful images and she was a blast to work with! Just take a look at this amazing wedding.

A friend of Tressa painted this cute sign to direct guests to the ceremony:

 

 

There was a long boardwalk leading to the beach, and Tressa wanted a place for guests to de-sand their feet after the ceremony. She had paint brushes and washcloths that they could use, and the two buckets would house the discarded cloths! She also had a basket of fans in case the guests were hot. Honestly, it was the perfect weather for an outdoor wedding!

Aisle markers lined the rows of white benches. They were a great touch and kept with the clean feel of a beach wedding:

A bamboo canopy set the tone for this simple ceremony. We didn’t need a lot of decoration because the backdrop of the ocean and the blue sky did it for us:

During the wedding ceremony, Bill and Tressa wanted to include Tressa’s daughter, McLain. They bought her a necklace and Bill gave a really beautiful speech about how much she meant to him and how happy he was to be a part of life. Afterwards, Bill and Tressa gave McLain the necklace and they officially became a family:

After the ceremony, all of the guests headed back to Anna’s Veranda for some tasty passed hors d’eouvres, drinks, a wonderful meal, and fun music:

The flowers and decorations were exactly what Tressa wanted. They were a cool blue with little splashes of a dark coral:

As I am doing my evening web purusing  I came across the most amazing chapel to host a wedding. It is called the Infinity Chapel at the Conrad Hotel Bali.

The Infinity was designed by architecture firm Pt. Divi Tunggal Mandiri, Jakarta Indonesia. The building is described as “the building’s simple off set triangle shape represents a romantic angle towards the heavens, while its physical attributes of marble, glass and steel are each metaphors for the male and female bodies and their interactions with each other as a couple. The remarkable steel framed glass wall that makes up the north side of the triangle embodies the delicate and nurturing characteristics of the bride as she supports the equally impressive marble south side, the stoic groom”.  I don’t think I have ever read a more beautiful description that has such relevant meaning.  Now I want to get married in that building!!

So I dug a little deeper and found out that the guest rooms are really very reasonable, $200-$500 a night. Considering you pay that for a night at the Peabody Hotel, a lagoon side king size room in Bali sounds great! 

 We even checked out airfair from Memphis to Bali on NWA and the flight was $1700. Sounds like alot, but I have been quoted almost that for Paris and Italy.

So whether you are thinking of eloping or looking for a romantic exotic honeymoon I think this might be a place to consider.  And if you are thinking about a destination wedding – don’t forget about us. We wanna go!!!!

As some of you may know I traveled to France in November. My travel companion was my friend Cynthia. We actually had been to Paris once before about 3 years ago and did not have a good time. The French people were incredibly rude (SURPRISE – you never heard that before), our trusty tour book was not accurate and we couldn’t find our way anywhere. All of our time was spent walking around trying to find things. Now keep in mind we are both college graduates, have 3 years of high school french under our belts and for gosh sakes I plan for a living… so you would have thought we could have maneuvered our way around.

To think that we would have even wanted to go back was amazing. After months of planning, weeks of private french lessons, searching for the perfect apartment and a 5 page 7 column spreadsheet detailing our every move for the 9 days we are there the trip, I am glad to say, the trip was a success.

We flew into Paris, arranged for a car to pick us up, went directly to the apartment, repacked, then headed to the train station to go on to Lyon. Upon leaving the apartment, headed to the metro stop, I knew we were in for a different experience when I saw Starbucks at the end of the block from our apartment, it was as if the heaven’s opened up and I heard a choir of angels singing “Alleliuah”. As we stopped to get our bearings straight a man asked us if we needed directions. What is this ???? A Frenchmen speaking English helping the stupid Americans, we felt so fortunate.

After visiting Lyon, we went to Aix En Provence, Avignon, Nice and Monaco. It was simply wonderful. 

What would a trip to France for a wedding planner be without visiting a few bridal stores to check out the latest in bridal style.  My very favorite was Max Chaoul. The first picture is from their store window.
