Renting Aisle Runners

Picture this:

You’re having an outdoor wedding. You have the chairs set up and the aisle markers in place. The garden arch is representative of the altar, your ceremony programs are on the chairs waiting to be read by your guests. Everything is perfect, right? Maybe.

You start to look at the space, and realize it looks a little bit like a decorated backyard. You have the decorations up, but something just seems to be missing. Here’s what it is:

An aisle runner.

Of course! It’s so simple. An aisle runner can further define the ceremony space and make it feel more formal and not like a decorated backyard. An aisle runner isn’t limited to outdoor weddings. If your church has that not-so-lovely carpet, it can be a way to tone down or even mask the flooring.

Aisle runners come in several different materials: paper, cloth, plastic, satin, velvet,  felt, and polyester. Those are only a few of your options. For outdoor weddings, we recommend using heavier material, like carpet. If you are considering cloth for the runner, you might want to think again.  It will catch, rip, or tear as your walking down the aisle in your fabulous heels.

Aisle runners can be customized, but for this post, we’re focusing on renting them to save a little money. When you call a company to ask about renting an aisle runner, be sure to have the measurements ready. How wide is the aisle you’ll be walking down? How wide do you want the aisle runner? What is the length of the aisle and the length of the runner you want? Also, think about the color you want. Classic white? Muted Ivory? A pop of red? This can help make ordering it quick and painless.

Aisle runners can range from $50 all the way up into the thousands depending on size and material.
